Software engineer & AI instructor · Charlotte, NC

I build software.
I teach people
to build it, too.

I'm Jeff. I've worked on privacy infrastructure, SaaS integrations, and developer tools. These days, I'm also building with AI and teaching others how to use it.

AI research systems

Medicaid Agent

Researching North Carolina Medicaid policy with sources the reader can inspect, and checks on what the system is allowed to release.

Document retrieval · Verification · Workflow recovery

Financial software

FiduciCalc

Charitable gift calculations for planned giving professionals. Work where a small numerical difference deserves an explanation.

Rust · Actuarial calculations · APIs

A small daily practice

Do The Hard Thing

Name what's uncomfortable, choose one thing that matters, and protect a block of time to do it. A deliberately small, offline-first app.

React · TypeScript · Progressive web app

A little background

Building and explaining.

At Transcend, I worked on privacy and data-rights infrastructure across third-party systems. Before that, I taught full-stack development at UNC Charlotte's coding bootcamp.

I now run Queen City Cortex and work on my own software projects. Teaching is still part of the work: helping people understand what AI tools can do, where they fail, and how to use them with judgment.
